Are We a Good Fit for Your Family?
At Cobb Pediatrics, we’ve spent over 35 years dedicated to compassionate, expert pediatric care. We believe that children deserve to be treated by specially trained doctors and Nurse Practitioners who understand their unique needs—not as small adults, but as growing individuals with specific developmental, emotional, and medical needs.
Choosing a pediatric practice is an important decision for your family. The best care happens when our values and approach to medicine align with yours. This creates a foundation for trust, clear communication, and shared decision-making.
Please take a moment to review the guidelines below to ensure that our practice philosophy matches what you’re looking for in a medical home. We look forward to partnering with you in your child’s care.

Medical Home
We believe in the importance of a true medical home—a place where your child’s care is continuous, comprehensive, and coordinated. As your primary care provider, we ask that you contact our office first regarding medical concerns, including urgent needs or specialist referrals.
This allows us to ensure your child receives care in the most appropriate setting, whether that’s in our office or with a trusted specialist. If your child does see a specialist, please request that a report be sent to us so we can keep your medical records current and continue to provide informed, connected care.
Vaccines
Cobb Pediatrics follows the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We do not skip, defer, or split vaccines unless medically necessary.
We require core childhood immunizations—such as DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis), IPV (polio), MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella), Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b), hepatitis A, hepatitis B, varicella (chickenpox), PCV (pneumococcal conjugate), and meningococcal (as age-appropriate)—for all patients in our practice. While we strongly recommend optional vaccines such as seasonal influenza, COVID-19, HPV, and RSV for additional protection, they are not required for your child to be seen in our office.
Please take a moment to review our Vaccine Policy Statement (PDF).
For reference, here are the 2024 Recommended Immunization Schedules:
- Vaccines Schedule – Ages Birth Through 6 Years Old
- Vaccines Schedule – Ages 7 Through 18 Years Old

Antibiotics and Medication Policy
At Cobb Pediatrics, we are committed to evidence-based prescribing. We aim to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and educate families on when antibiotics are truly appropriate. Common symptoms like ear pain or green nasal discharge do not always warrant antibiotics, and we carefully evaluate each case before prescribing.
We do not routinely prescribe antibiotics over the phone, as a proper diagnosis often requires an in-person evaluation. We only prescribe antibiotics when we determine they are the best course of treatment.
For details on other medication-related policies, please review:
• ADD/ADHD Treatment & Controlled Substance Policy

Technology
At Cobb Pediatrics, we embrace technology to enhance your experience and streamline your child’s care. We encourage families to take advantage of our secure patient portal, where you can send non-urgent messages to our team, request medication refills, and access medical records such as immunization forms.
Through our partnership with Phreesia, you can confirm appointments, complete pre-registration, fill out required forms and surveys, and make payments for co-pays, deductibles, or outstanding balances—all from your phone or computer, prior to your arrival at the office and at your convenience. If you are unable to complete the pre-registration before your visit, please arrive at the office 15 minutes prior to your appointment time.
We also offer convenient telemedicine visits for established patients who are up to date on their well visits. Once scheduled, you’ll receive a text and/or email with a link to complete your check-in. This includes confirming your appointment and submitting any required payment. Failure to complete check-in in advance will result in cancellation of the appointment. On the day of your visit, simply click the link to join your provider’s virtual waiting room a few minutes before your scheduled time.
Scheduling and Appointments
At Cobb Pediatrics, we see all patients by appointment only to help minimize wait times and ensure your child receives the attention they need. Our Patient Services Team is available during regular business hours to assist with appointment scheduling, insurance questions, and general inquiries. You can reach them by phone or via a message through the Patient Portal.
Booking an Appointment
Before scheduling, we will confirm your demographic and insurance information, so please have these details on hand when you call.
We ask that you provide as much information as possible about the reason for your visit to help us allocate the appropriate time for your appointment.
What to Bring
- Photo ID and current insurance card (if applicable)
- Payment for any co-pay, deductible, or outstanding balance. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
- A previously registered parent or legal guardian must accompany all minor children for both in-person and telemedicine visits.
- We may see unaccompanied 17-year-olds who are established patients with written authorization from a parent/guardian, submitted via the Patient Portal.
- 16-year-olds may be seen unaccompanied on a case-by-case basis, with additional prior approval from a physician or nurse practitioner.
Parents or guardians should remain reachable by phone during unaccompanied minor appointments and are welcome to join discussions via speakerphone if needed.
Walk-Ins & Sibling Add-Ons
We do not accept walk-ins. All visits—including well checks, sick visits, and sibling add-ons—must be scheduled in advance. We reserve same-day sick appointments for urgent needs; calling ahead ensures availability and helps us prepare for your child’s visit.
Missed Appointments & Late Cancellations
- Because we do not overbook, your scheduled time is reserved specifically for you. Missed appointments and last-minute cancellations prevent other children from being seen. Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations whenever possible.
- A $50 fee per appointment may be charged for no-shows or avoidable cancellations within 24 hours.
- Families with excessive missed appointments will be dismissed from our practice.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive late, we cannot guarantee your child will be seen. We will do our best to accommodate you without disrupting other scheduled patients, but your appointment may need to be rescheduled, and a $50 fee will apply, as this is considered a missed visit.

After-hours medical advice calls are directed to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Nurse Advice Line. If additional support is needed, our answering service will page the on-call provider.
